Add the Andy Warhol Pop Art Effect to Photos the Easy Way

Andy Warhol is considered by many to be the greatest artist in history. His pop art paintings were realistic, vivid, and detailed, while remaining simplistic at the same time. Luckily for us, we can recapture the pop art effect, made famous by Warhol, quickly and easily with online digital photo editors.

Pop art originated in London in the 1950’s. In England, they referred to it as propaganda art because it was heavily based off of media, advertising, and popular, marketable subjects. In the United States, we refer to it as pop art, pop being short for popular. Pop art focuses on an object or subject that is popular.

There are many ways to add the pop art effect to your photos, depending on which photo editing software you choose. However, for this tutorial, we will be taking the easy route by using the free, online photo editor FotoFlexer. So to get started, head on over to the FotoFlexer homepage.

FotoFlexer is fairly old now and most people use Google Photos or other photo editing apps on their phones, but their website still works just fine for a lot of basic editing and effects.

Once at the FotoFlexer homepage, click the Upload a Photo button.

You also have the option of uploading photos directly from PhotoBucket, MySpace, Facebook, Flickr, Picasa, etc. The next screen that you will arrive at is the instant editing screen. Click the Upload button.

Navigate to the photo that you want to make pop art, select it, and click the Open button. From there, FotoFlexer will load the editor screen.

Now it’s time to demo just how quick and easy FotoFlexer is. Click the Effects tab, then use the More buttons to scroll through the different effects. Once you reach the Pop Art effect, click on it.

The pop art effect will automatically be applied to your photo. That’s really all there is to it. FotoFlexer really is the easiest way to add the pop art filter to your existing photos. Click the Apply button to save changes to your photo.

Now, you may notice that you cannot simply right-click to save the image to your computer. To save the freshly edited photo, click the Save button, located on the top toolbar.

This will bring you to a new screen, where you can choose which image format you would like to save your photo as. After you have chosen a format, click the Save To My Computer button.

Enter a file name for your photo and click the Save Now button.

Select a location on your computer and simply save the file. You should now have your recently edited photo on your computer.

That’s all there is to it. FotoFlexer gives you a quick and easy way to edit photos in many ways, not just with the pop art effect. If you edit photos often, you may want to consider signing up for a free account, which will make it easier to keep track of and manage your albums.
